After the tragedy that had changed her life Alex Donnell was thankful for the medical training that had enabled her to pick up the threads and resume her career as a doctor. The job as assistant doctor in a small lodging community in the wilds of Tasmania seemed just what she needed to make a complete change.

It was disconcerting to realise, on her arival, that the doctor in charge, Andrew McIntyre, had expected a man and was far from pleased when Alex turned up.
