As a child, Elise VanBrouwer had been intrigued by her great-aunt Georgeanna's mansion on the California coast, near the treacherous Demon's Cove. Now she has inherited it and must make it ready for sale.

Elise looks forward to the time she must spend in the house. It will give her a chance to recuperate from the strain she has been under and to take time out to make plans for her marriage to Jess Brewer. But her feelings for Jess are soon complicated when Brian Edgerton, the town's handsome doctor, takes a more-than-medical interest in her.
