After losing her husband on her first wedding anniversary, Sarah Spooky Walters is left pregnant with no job, still trying to get her PhD. When her mother suggests she contact Matchrimony to find herself a new husband so she can have some semblance of a good life, she agrees to meet with Dr. Lachele Simpson, the matchmaker involved. Chase Appleby lost the only woman he'd ever loved to a man with a gun just before they'd finished college.
