About This Book

Losing a job can be one of the hardest things a person has to go through, but for Scott Aitken it is the beginning of a new life. He first has a dream where his high school football coach tells him he needs to play football again. Scott has several dreams with his coach and football in them. He naturally dismisses the dreams since he is 44 years old, has a family, and hasn't played football since high school. He also is out of shape and is very small compared to the college football players. It would be an impossibility for him to try out if they even would allow him to.
After losing his job, Scott starts thinking about the dreams and wonders if he is meant to play football again. He falls into a job at the university, and decides that by working at the university he can take classes and earn a degree he was not able to get the first time. He convinces his wife and children that it is a good thing he is working at the university.
Unknown to his wife and friends, Scott tries out for the university football team during spring training. He hides it from them because he is uncertain himself if it is the right thing to do or if he would be able to make the team, or even be allowed to try out. To Scott's amazement he is allowed to try out for the team and makes it. Now Scott knows that there is some divine force behind all of this that is compelling him to play football.
When his family and friends find out what he has done they are upset and think he is crazy. Everyone including the coaches think it's crazy that a 44 year old is playing college football, but he proves he is good enough to be on the team. During the first game of the season the coaches are not planning to play Scott, and think it is best to just keep him on the bench, but when they do end up putting him in the game, he becomes the hero of the game and wins it for the university. Scott becomes a star athlete for the university helping to save the troubled football program, the coaches jobs, and helping the players on the team come together to prove they can win games together.
After a crippling injury that ends his football career, Scott realized that the entire experience helped him grow stronger and brought his family together. He helped many other people through his efforts on the football field, and in the end he went into journalism and wrote books to help other and inspire them to follow their dreams. Scott was able to eventually follow his dreams of getting a college degree, playing football, and having a loving family, but dreams turned out different that he had thought they would.
