A dark, sinister figure and his band of murderous gunmen have ridden into the small Arizona town of Creedence. Ezikiah Synn, known as “The Preacher,” has one objective in mind â€" to kidnap the president of the United States, Ulysses S. Grant! One hundred and twenty Apache men, women and children have been brutally slaughtered at Camp Grant in the Arizona Territory. President Grant, outraged at the massacre, has vowed to investigate the heinous crime himself. Grant, and six of his most trusted men, is traveling incognito to conduct an investigation. But one of the president’s bodyguards is secretly working for the Confederacy and has supplied details of the trip to Synn. Mason Proffit is in the area helping a friend get a cattle ranch started. It doesn’t take long before his friend is killed by Synn and his men and Proffit himself is kidnapped. Proffit and his gun are President Grant’s only hope of escape. . .
