Corpse Road

BANNERMAN, a crippled and bitter veteran. He's trapped in a place where angels rest but demons never do. His wife has left him and he is alone with his guilt and anger, a battle scarred outcast. He is arrested for the murder of his missing girlfriend, a mysterious girl called IZZY. Some doubt she even existed, she was no more than the fantasy of a lonely vet but she had kept him alive. He was disabled but she made him look at what he could do, not what he couldn't. She had saved him from killing himself. Getting killed by the enemy was a hazard of war. Killing yourself was a hazard of peace. CANDY HOFF, the area pathologist, is not convinced of Bannerman's guilt but POLICE CHIEF RYDELL is and arrests him. Bannerman escapes but is recaptured and sent to a top secret military hospital. He had been there before but cannot remember it. To escape he takes a female hostage, CAPTAIN GOLIGHTLY. Together they work out the truth that Izzy was once a nurse at the same hospital and experiments had been done on her to erase her memory. Both Bannerman and Golightly go on the run, and end up again on the old Corpse Road and we finally discover the truth about Izzy.
