About This Book

"Angel One, bank left…" The commander ordered and Kelly quickly corrected her position. He had never seen anyone fly at such speed with so much accuracy until the avengers were formed. Kelly made the turn and then flew at a mountain at mach one. "Pull up now Angel One!"

"I'm pulling up NOW!" Kelly answered. She shot a missile into the mountain and went vertical…the flying debris almost caught her…the two jets behind her exploded into one another. "FACE, you cretins…!" They heard her yell and she went back into action. She hurried to catch up with her little brother, who was trying desperately to outrun one of Hawthorne's tricked out jets. Jamie flew beside her. "I've got this one, Jamie, go help Kevin…"

"Copy…" Jamie broke off and watched as Kelly shadowed the jet below her.

"Go vertical, Keith!" She yelled.

"Thanks!" Keith wheezed.

"Keith, use your inhaler!" Kelly told him quickly. So many of the kids that had been born in the disease…were asthmatics.

"Copy…!" He answered as she pulled away and continued the chase.
"CRAP!" Kelly cried as she saw four jets dead on her tail. "Guys, I might need some help here."
"We're coming…" The avengers answered in unison.
"Angel One, get out of there! Do not engage! Leave now!" The commander yelled into the com.
"Don't…think…I have a…choice…Dad…" Kelly's speech was broken.

"Angel One, Have you been hit?" Jamie yelled as he closed the distance. He saw in horror as two of the planes went down in flames. Kelly was maneuvering and going vertical and coming back from behind and blowing the jets out of the sky. She didn't answer.

"Kelly! Have you been hit?" He cried again.

They all watched as Kelly went down. She had taken out the last two planes but from somewhere a missile had been lodged from the ground. "NO!" Everyone yelled in unison.

"AVENGERS…return to base now!" David Martin yelled over the uproar. Missiles were flying from every direction and the commander knew if he didn't get the kids out of there, they would all die. "That is an order! Return to base!" He watched in relief as the planes made the turn and headed back. No one spoke until they were outside of the bunker.
