The car accident in which Julie been involved had had tragic and far-reaching result - for not only had her boy friend Tony been killed, but she herself had been injured and was unable to walk without a stick a situation which showed no sign of improving. It was to try and get over it all that she had thankfully accepted the invitation of her doctor cousin Kenneth and his wife to stay with them in Yorkshire. But it was no help at all when Kenneth's partner, Doctor Richard Stokes kept insisting that Julie wasn't as incapacitated as she thought she was. Why was his opinion of any importance?
