After the success of Charlie Chan and Mr. Moto, Monogram hired Boris Karloff (Frankenstein, The Ape, The Invisible Ray) to play Hugh Wiley's Detective James Lee Wong in a series of Mr. Wong movies. Keye Luke, Charlie Chan's #1 son, played Mr. Wong in the final movie of the series.
