I had read Christabel's diary, and now I was in terrible danger.

No on could ever forget Christabel . . .

Everyone adored Christabel. And any woman who had ever met her wanted to copy her elegant and gracious style.

I, too, had wanted to be like Christabel in every way, until I discovered her diary and read about her terrible secret.

There was someone else who knew that secret. The broken lock on the diary told me that. But I was sure that it wasn't her daughter. Rowena still wanted to follow in the exact footsteps of her mother.
