Chilean Revolution

The election to the presidency in October 1970 of Salvador Allende, leader of the Socialist Party and candidate of the Popular Unity coalition, thrust Chile to the threshold of an unprecedented "revolution by constitutional methods." The Chilean Revolution records and captures that historic moment and brings to life the thoughts and commitments of the man who stands at its center. The Chilean Revolution consists of three principal sections: an introductory essay ob Chile's history and politics by Regis Debray, his "Conversations with Allende" in January 1971, and a Postscript by President Allende that includes his First Message to Congress delivered in May 1971. Together they document the beginning of the Chilean revolution.
