For a few terrifying moments the whole scene swam dizzily before Melissa's eyes. The man seated at the table across the street was Richard, her ex-fiance. And with him was Inez, the woman with whom he'd had a secret affair.

Seconds later, Richard glanced up and caught her eye. Recognition shocked both of them into action. While Richard shoved aside the chair blocking his path and headed straight toward her, Melissa spun around with a gasp and dashed into the crowd.
