About This Book

Tom Carter, a playwright, returns to Quebec to write a Canadian novel. Although he is engaged to a charming American girl he is still haunted by the memory of Ann Pacquet who lives in Quebec. He hopes to see her again but he knows she is also engaged and soon to be married.

It is Ann's fiancé who suggests that Tom should lease the beautiful castle for the time required to write his book. It is not long before mysterious events begin to take place and Tom discovers that the castle is a meeting place for Separatists planning to overthrow the government. Worse still, Ann's fiancé is a leader of this French Canadian group. Tom tries to save Ann from being involved as the romantic city is caught up in the flames of smouldering racial antagonism.
