Carve a Witness to Shreds

Series protagonist Kate Cavanaugh (Beat a Rotten Egg to the Punch), a Cincinnati-area caterer by trade and sleuth by avocation, happens to be onboard a riverboat for a private gambling party when its host, controversial developer Victor Lloyd, meets his gruesome demise. Already investigating Lloyd's alleged mob connections for a client whose daughter plans to marry Lloyd's son, Cavanaugh now looks into his very suspicious death. Cavanaugh's somewhat neglected business, her dry-witted and disdainful mom, and a most agreeable narrative will endear this to most readers. Strongly recommended.
