Carnival at San Cristobal

After a terrible car crash in which her face was scarred, Tessa went to stay with her married sister Maggie, on the island of San Cristobal in the West Indies, at Carnival time. There, unexpectedly, she would meet Nigel again, Nigel whose love had not been strong enough to face up to the results of the accident, and who had lost no time in breaking their engagement and marrying her sister Jane instead. But Tessa also met Rick Marsden, whose bracing, no-nonsense attitude at least made her take stock of things and have second thoughts about her self-pitying unhappiness. In fact she might have snapped out of it altogether and fallen in love again, if she could be sure that Rick himself was not in love, with her sister Maggie. But during just three days of Carnival at San Cristobal, Tessa was to find all her problems resolved.
