Life in the big city isn't just pretty, it's getting downright dangerous for retired bounty hunter Gunner Long. And complicated to boot.

As a favor to a friend, he has taken on two employees, a move he figured would allow him to solve more cases. But there are only so many cases needing a private investigator's attention and in the midst of a dry spell, Gunny finds himself sub-contracted by a spiteful dwarf.

A supposedly simple look into a rich businessman's gambling debts and infatuations rapidly spins out of control as the bodies start to pile up. With seeming everybody trying to hassle, pummel, and shoot him, Gunny is pushed to the limits while trying to figure out just who in the vast rogues gallery around him is the guilty party.
