Being the only daughter of a rich man brought undoubted advantages, but in her nursing career Nurse Claire Wilson found that her background meant nothing but problems. She was determined to make a success of nursing in spite of being reared in a hot-house environment, so it was particularly galling to be accused by Dr. Nick Haldane of playing at medicine.
