About This Book

The story is set on a South African farm that belongs to Lorna, whose family have lived on the farm for over a hundred years.
Now that Lorna is older, she decides to change her will that was in favour of her four children and instead she leaves the farm in a Trust to Mary and Anna. The women who have run the dairy for her for many years. And since Mary has an agricultural diploma, Lorna feels she will continue in the tradition of farming and not convert the farm into a playground for the rich the way her children possibly would.
Knowing what her family is like, Lorna and her younger son Alex, then pack a box with valuable goods for Mary and in the meanwhile, they decide to hide the box in a cave on the property for safe keeping, -until the time is right and the will is read.
Alex tells his mother that when he went into the area where the cave is situated, a Piet-my-vrou or Red breasted cuckoo called constantly. And she says that Mary told her bird did not call Piet-my-vrou at all, but rather Christmas box-Christmas-box. So they both decide that since the treasure box is now hidden in the cave, this was a very clever observation,
When the will is eventually read it causes a crisis, as the family feels upset that they have lost their inheritance. The lawyer tells them the reasoning behind Lorna's decision, but Jack in particular remains very angry. This is mostly due to the stolen goods and dirty money he has hidden on the property in a
second cave that he has secured with a metal gate.
This cave can be accessed from a road that goes past an another farm, but when Jack goes there to retrieve the goods a veld fire is raging in the area.
Later the police go to Jacks office and arrest him. So in the end his younger brother's earlier prediction that the law would eventually catch up with Jack is fulfilled. Not that anyone realizes this, because the evidence is still hidden in an unusual hiding place and inside a tin where Alex hid all his childhood secrets.
This is a story that will be enjoyed by people aged 13 to 80+
