Jax Kennedy has only ever loved one womanâ€"his longtime best friend, Kate Owens. They’ve been inseparable since childhood, and his feelings for her have deepened with each passing year. Fortunately, his consulting job has kept him out of the city, making their friendship long-distance and allowing him to conceal his feelings through phone calls.

Their relationship has thrived with nightly phone calls and occasional visits. However, when Kate decides she’s tired of being single and wants to try online dating, Jax realizes that her settling down with someone else will inevitably change their relationship forever.
