Calamity

CALAMITY is a biographical novel based on the life of that legendary heroine of the Old West, "Calamity" Jane. Martha Jane Canary, the daughter of a self-centered and promiscuous mother and a henpecked father, grew up running free. When she was old enough to choose her own path, she insisted on living a life of independence and freedom. Because she lived during the era of Victorian moral standards - and the double standard - she was continually shocking the 'good folks' when she insisted upon participating in the same kind of fun that the men were having. She lived her life on the wildest frontiers she could find, and loved the danger and excitement.
