Having finally disabled and locked up cunning killer Roberto Trebor, former homicide detective Steve "Rosie" Rosenberg has left New York for Oklahoma. Rosie is now Tulsa's police chief, and his savvy new wife, Edna, is graduating from the FBI Academy. Trebor's string of palindrome-driven murders has become just a bitter memory when an anonymous stranger invades the ordered life of Rosie and Edna, taunting them with eerily familiar communiqués.
