As we go along, we find that not everything is rosy in Telmekish. Mohany along with the rest of the tribe face many challenges. The weather and the harsh environment, flash floods, disease, an evil witch, and finally the ancient evil Cahuilla God, Tahquitz, whose demonic powers threaten all. As things build to a head and Mohany grows up, he must come to eventually face Tahquitz awesome powers of evil and defeat him if he wants the tribe to survive.
