He's losing who he is because of his past. His life is in jeopardy. He keeps hearing a voice--"I am coming to keep you safe." Jace's past seems an impossibility, only one will understand. Things that happened then still haunt him now. He knows he is completely responsible for hurting her. He should have never tried to make her his, knowing her destined one had already been chosen, and he knew it wasn't him. They are only supposed to do as they are told, nothing more. He broke the rules. Now guilt and remorse are his only companions--until she comes to the farm. She needed a safe haven, Jace needed to be kept safe. A life is at stake.
