Dineo is the victim of an attack on the streets of Brighton, Sussex. A stranger, Sam, comes to his rescue.
As their friendship develops, they discover that they were both present in the same town in apartheid South Africa when a racially motivated atrocity was committed 35 years ago.
Dineo, in fear for his life, has harboured the identity of the main perpetrator of that crime ever since.
With Sam's guidance they set out to track down the criminal across two continents.
