About This Book

Dr. Anne Vernon has recently taken a job as the only woman in an all-male prison. Her role there is twofold: She must cater to the physical well-being of the prisoners and also investigate their mental problems - a job description that is as challenging as it is dangerous.
Within minutes of arrival, the new doctor is thrown her first case: a suicide risk who has been charged with attempted rape of a schoolgirl. To her surprise, Dr. Vernon recognizes the man as Jason Newman, a former international tennis star. His situation does look particularly bad: Two young girls have recently disappeared from the neighborhood and the police are desperate to find a suspect. But Dr. Vernon believes that he could be innocent and takes a more than medical interest in his case. As she investigates his problems, Dr. Vernon begins to uncover a turmoil of suppressed passions that will eventually erupt to put her own life in danger.
