Bubba Bay is a fire horse. He was one of the horses pulling the fire wagon when the fire house received a call that Mrs. O’Leary’s cow had kicked over the lantern and her barn was on fire. A big area of Chicago burned that day because the fire wagon could not get there fast enough. Bubba Bay was too slow! He could not keep up with his friend and partner, a big strawberry roan, even though, again and again, he felt the sting of the whip on his rump!
