About This Book

Do you like classic western movies? It's not surprising that I do. My father and my maternal grandfather were ranch managers, real Texas cowboys, and I spent part of my growing up years on a sixty thousand acre cattle ranch. I also like classic plots for my novels. The plot for my newest western novel, Cinderella Texas, came from a well- known fairy tale, and the plot for "Brush Country" came from the old black and white movie, High Noon, starring Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly.
High Noon is about a lawman forced to take part in a shoot-out on his wedding day, and his future wife doesn't like guns. The movie was mostly from the lawman's point of view, but I wondered what it would be like to tell a story like that from the viewpoint of the bride-to-be, a woman with a secret fear of men. Readers will discover what I came up with when they read "Brush Country." Brush Country is a part of a collection of short stories by several authors under the title Shoot ‘Em Up Westerns.
Readers might also like Bedtime Stories for Believers—eight of my short, short stories for Christian adults.
