Broken Pieces

AS A TEENAGER GROWING UP IN
Plains Point, Missouri, Mariah Sayers was brutally attacked. She received neither comfort nor support from her rigid parents, so she ran away. Sixteen years later, she's come back with her teenage daughter, hoping to make peace with her past.

At first she relishes her return, finding herself swept up by old friendships and excited by the possibility of reuniting with an old flame. Then she receives some shocking news. A friend of hers has been viciously assaulted, and she reveals that the attacker whispered the same words that were spoken to Mariah all those years ago: Now I have a piece of you.
