After relocating from a bustling metropolis in Miami to laidback Milltown in Central Florida, twelve-year-old Laurie Lambkin finds herself thrust into a completely different environment where horses and riding competitions are a way of life. Milltown may be small, but she soon discovers that small towns oftentimes harbor big secrets. Her budding friendship with young Chuck Mallory evolves into a secret mentoring program, as he teaches her all about horses and riding competitions. Troubles brew, rivalries surface and jealousy reigns when a surly young boy named Freddy Feingold appears on the scene, and then complications arise when young Tiffany Mallory gets involved.
