ON THE TRAIL OF A DEAD MAN

Not-a-Chance is one of the slapdash little towns that sprang up like mushrooms in the path of the railroad, where the card games, roulette, and even the weather seem fixed. Slocum rides into Not-a-Chance to track down a hardcase named Burke Olsen, who may or may not be buried in the local boneyard. Soon Slocum finds himself mixed up in twelve kinds of trouble, and searching for another missing man who just might lead him to Olsen. In the crooked burg of Not-a-Chance, Slocum plays for the highest stakes of all—and his odds of making it out alive are about as good as the town's name.
