About This Book

In later years and the third episode of this family saga, overachievers Jake and Cookie Marin amass a fortune building a commercial empire. Jake opens a widely acclaimed graduate school for counseling professionals. Cookie's small-town shops grow into a Culinary Arts Learning Center and the world famous Boulangerie gourmet restaurants in their Chesapeake hometown. The community elects them to public office; one as mayor, the other to town council, but all does not bode well. The oldest son, Monty, disappears for years before resurfacing even more mysteriously. Bastard son, Claude Debussy, goes on the run. Cookie and adult daughter, Madeleine, are abducted and held as hostages for ransom. Mix-up in a $1 million drop leads to Maddie's execution. Cookie is dumped in a Cambodian ditch. The multitalented family is decimated. Years pass. Cookie, turned Buddhist nun, is eventually rescued on Kuta Beach.
