About This Book

Young Beau McCutcheon and his Texan pals flee a saloon fight, pursued by a corrupt sheriff and angry Rangers - the boys traded their worn-out horses for the Rangers' mounts. When the Texans save Captain Jack Hightower's horses from raiding Comanches Beau is hit in the head with a club, which nearly kills him. Wearing the bloody bandage to scare the Indians, they call him "Bloody Head." Captain Jack drives his mixed herd of flighty Longhorns and horses to the Navajo-Mescalero Indian reservation, hiring the cocky Texans. The Haught family, an entire clan of Texas settlers, also plague Captain Jack as they drive their own mixed herd behind him, hoping to arrive first. The Haughts also make trouble for Beau and his boys. Ill-fated love, bitter rivalry and deadly challenges lie ahead.
