Black Jack Dare

The time is 1828. The place is Sweet Home in the northern-most province of Mexico. Tejas is a land of opportunity for those with true grit. People like the Dares who have been born to struggle, those adventuresome few who, throughout the ages, have gone into strange lands before all others and there have fought, bled and died so that the weaker could follow and survive. There are six Dare offspring, and the three men are all named Jack with a color added for outsiders. This is the story of the eldest son, Black Jack Dare, Ranger Captain, Indian fighter, all around fine specimen of manliness and Miss Annie Mapes, a lovely young school teacher from Philadelphia who is so green that she best watch where she sits lest the cows eat her.
