Bird of Morning

Johanna Kemp was named Bird of Morning by the Aborigine women who delivered her. As a 'currency lass' - the freeborn daughter of a convict - she was part of the land, at one with the place that had breathed life into her. In their remote corner of Queensland she and her brother had grown up sharing in the customs, beliefs and rituals of the Matu tribe. Matthew Everdene was the son of an English Lord. He had come to Australia with dreams of working for his own place in the far North West.With so many differences between them - differences that might remain always, no matter where they went or what they did - could they ever begin to share each other's world?
