A naval commander, Jefferson Turck, his ship disabled and unable to control it, crosses beyond 30. He and three of his shipmates are cast adrift by a treacherous fellow officer. They reach the coast of England to find a devasted land ruled by lions, tigers, and wolves--the population having degenerated into naked savages.
