Beyond Reason

Widowed, penniless, and heavily in debt, Lady Isobel de Clancy finds herself at the mercy of her liege lord, Robert Montgomery. Trouble is, Lord Montgomery is away fighting in France, and Felix de Lisle, the steward left in charge of Glendennan Castle, is less than sympathetic to Isobel's plight. 
Issuing threats of debtor's prison, he puts Isobel to work. She has no choice but to submit to his cruel demands, and can only pray that Lord Montgomery will show her some leniency upon his return. 
Montgomery, meanwhile, has been granted the hand of a wealthy and beautiful heiress - a reward from his king for service to the Crown. He's pleased with the arrangement, and returns home eager to begin preparations for his marriage. 
Unfortunately, Robert Montgomery is not prepared for the effect a young, penniless widow will have on his heart.
