For years April and Ryan Brannon, model children and stars of their mother's morning talk show, had pretended to be people they weren't. They had dutifully kept up with their work, kept out of trouble, professional to have serious thoughts about prestigious future careers. But when the show started dictating their personal lives, it was another story.

Now they were both in love and they definitely didn't want the news broadcast. Besides, how could April admit to the world that she was in love with Bill, a.k.a. Hillbilly, the joke of the school, whose family, all parents, agreed, in no way belonged in a respectable neighborhood?
