Marina is a privileged girl. She's spent a childhood traveling the world with her scientist father, and is doted on and pampered by her wealthy and glamorous neighbor Evie.

Everything changes in the summer of her sixteenth year when Marina is sent to live with relatives in the foggy seaside town of Aptos, California. Only a few weeks after arriving, she has nearly drowned twice, discovered a supernatural creature, and caught the eye of the hottest guy in school.

Mysterious forces seem to want something from her, and if Marina can manage to survive her dangerous encounters with an unpredictable mermaid, she might just be able to unlock the mystery of her past.
