Believe No Evil

On summer vacation from college, Jenny Sheldon is on her way to San Francisco with Professor Avery and his grandson. The adorable little boy will be her special charge while the professor teaches at the Center for International Cooperation and Understanding. But Jenny's mind is preoccupied with the news that her brother, a Navy officer, has been reported AWOL. Jenny is convinced that there is more to the situation than meets the eye when she receives an unsigned gift, addressed in her brother's handwriting, postmarked San Francisco: a statuette of the three monkeys, "See no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil".

A sunlit summer vacation was shadowed when lovely young Jenny Sheldon learned her brother was mysteriously AWOL from the U.S. Navy. Her only clue to his innocence was a strange and exquisite Chinese statue her had sent her -- but that was enough to make her take a job in the San Francisco area where he had vanished.

In the winding streets of Chinatown and on the foggy San Francisco waterfront, Jenny followed a trail of deception and danger. Meanwhile, at the Foundation for International Cooperation where she was working, she found herself courted by two very different and very attractive men. Suddenly, in a nightmare web of intrigue, Jenny's two worlds came together -- and both her brother's life and her own hung on her quick thinking in crisis, and her wisdom in love.
