About This Book

Behind Closed Doors is a tale of secrets, lies and betrayal in a small upper-class beach town. The story circles around Mara Newton, a disenchanted wife and mother of two who has just been laid off from her office job weeks before Christmas. Bored with herself and her life in general, Mara reluctantly accepts a job as a housekeeper/personal assistant to Paris Ashley, a retired runway model who relocated to an affluent community on the beach. Paris is infamous for her temper tantrums and her hissy fits, unable to keep hired help due to the abuse she dishes out. She also enjoys writing steamy, scandalous novels that seems to revolve around the real lives of her snobbish Country Club friends.

Just days into her new assignment, Mara comes to work and finds Paris's murdered body. Instead of leaving the crime to the small-town police to solve, Mara decides to investigate the matter herself, staying ahead of the police and begins snooping around and investigating on her own. After all, Mara is unemployed now and would rather solve an important crime than staying at home and watching soaps all day.

She manages to find Paris's diary, the juicy book providing clues to the murdered celebrity's life of love affairs, betrayals and backstabbing. Mara began to realize that numerous individuals in the town had a valid reason for wanting Paris dead. Little does Mara know that she's closer to the truth than she thinks as she stumbles across guarded secrets, twists and turns that reveals what really goes on behind closed doors.
