Beckoning Streams

The town of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, has a new schoolteacher, but not for long. Possessing neither certification nor seniority, as the school faces consolidation, Ruth McEvan faces unemployment.

Should she accept her grandmother's offer of an education in Ontario? Surely she would meet some eligible and sophisticated young men in the city. Or should she remain in the familiar Peace River region and raise a family with the kindhearted and marriage-minded Jed Spencer?

Yet the tragedy that claimed Ruth's mother and three brothers years earlier has hardened her heart. Why risk love when it could be taken away? And, Ruth's bitter heart cries, why trust God?
