Mary, in her late thirties, is starting over with her daughter, Kate. Unimpressed with the single men she has met, she is resisting the dating scene. She tells her friend, Roxanne, she doesn't need a man. What she needs is fiscal stability. When her ex-brother-in-law makes a play for her, Mary is conflicted. Mark, a Montana Park Ranger, is a hunk, but getting involved with him will also mean becoming a part of her ex-husband's family again. Mary, a writer, isn't happy about spending the rest of her life struggling to keep up with the Bergstroms who are rich, driven, and well-established. When fate puts Mary and Mark in Hawaii at the same time, romance begins to bloom. However, Mary still struggles with her initial feelings about her ex-in-laws.
