After the Civil War, most of the South went back to normal life, but there was no end to death and destruction for some. Such were the men who had fought with Quantrill's Raiders, self-confessed bandits and killers. Clem Vance was warned that if he rode south into Texas territory after the outlaws who had once fought with the infamous band, he would be heading straight into trouble. But Vance rode on.
