About This Book

Michael McGinnis is hopeful that things are looking up for his family. Casey is in rehab in Texas, his and Eva's relationship is strong, and he will be back on the rig soon.

While visiting Casey in Texas, he is shocked by the devastation caused by the drought and wildfires. Learning that the local fire departments are staffed mostly by volunteers, he wants to stay and help. It's a different kind of firefighting than what he's used to, and Michael is forced to learn the basics quickly. Due to his lack of experience, he becomes vulnerable to the deteriorating situations in the largest and most destructive wildfire in Texas history.

The fire spreads rapidly, trapping the crew inside a wall of towering flames and thick smoke. With danger closing in on him, Michael must make a crucial decision that could be detrimental to everyone he knows.
