Autumn in Bangkok

What on earth had her father been thinking about, Alexandra Templar wondered vexedly, consigning her little brother Ben to the guardianship of his friend Professor Nicholas Devlin, whom neither of them had ever met? It was bad enough to have to go out to Bangkok where the Professor lived -- without the additional shock of discovering that he was by no means the scholarly middle-aged man she had visualised, but a mere thirty-four and a man to be reckoned with -- but then Alex realised that she had no guarantee that he would allow her to stay on there with Ben.
