Astrid's Survivor Journey

This is a story about a woman named Astrid who nearly dies of a life threatening disease. Shortly after that, her home is destroyed by hurricane Sandy. A therapist serves as the narrative voice in the story as he recounts how her determination and fortitude helps her to strive to overcome extreme emotional hardships and adversities. He also emphasizes how it is essential for Astrid to work on healing her mind and spirit in order to heal her body. The fictional character, Astrid is a reflection of the author's true experience. The therapist is a reflection of her mind. She demonstrates what she learned from a lifetime of therapy and spiritual work in order to heal her physical body It represents how we should never give up fighting for our dreams or our lives.
