Yet examining a month's haul of garbage was, in theory, no different from a prehistoric dig--a precise, painstaking science. But when Raine Webber and her University of Maine anthropology class arrived at the hunts's seaside hideaway she suddenly knew this would be unlike any other experience. Just like Cotter hunt was unlike any other man.

Cotter had single-handedly built a fortune with his waste-removal business, which he, somewhat reluctantly, opened up to Raine's garbology study. What harm could a simple scientific experiment do? But neither Cotter nor Raine were prepared for the findings.
