Matthew Preston is looking for a reason to keep on living. His retirement was supposed to be spent with his wife and fourteen-year-old granddaughter Dana. Now he is alone and wondering if he should return to practicing law. But everything changes when Matthew spots a girl with a striking resemblance to the granddaughter he desperately misses. Ashley Swanson may not be Dana, but there is something so very familiar about her that Matthew must find out more about this girl and her family.

Matthew manages to get a job with Ashley's family and sets out to sea working on the yacht that the Swanson family has rented. However the voyage soon turns deadly.
