Clearly, her lovely hands had never done a day's work. And when Lord Jeremy Pickering kissed her in a fit of pique -- promptly accepting a bucketful of suds in return -- the apology he received after her anger quelled was in words as aristocratic as his own.

Catherine, obviously, was no maid. She was, in truth, a runaway bride. So a better disguise was devised by her employer, the ever-helpful, rather eccentric Lady Lavinia Pickering, and under her wing Catherine became the fourth member of a club devoted to adventure and intellectual stimulation.

As the foursome arrived in Bath, there was plenty of intrigue afoot. For not only was Catherine's husband closing in, but Lord Jeremy, too, had his sights set upon fair Catherine, determined to save her virtue...and steal her heart!
