An Invisible Man

He waited outside the window until he saw what he wanted. What he needed. What he felt entitled to.

Then he escalated. Broke in through the window. Crept through the house while the young daughter slept, while the pretty young mother showered.

Inside her house without her knowing, he felt perfectly invisible. A man emerging into the real, but unseen, world. Then he wished for duct tape. Time for another escalation.

This is a short story of about 2,000 words, originally published in the fall 1992 issue of "The Texas Review."
